More and more time spent on mobile browsing and apps

Mobile users are spending more and more time interacting with mobile apps and browsing mobile websites.

According to a recent report by Flurry Analytics, the mobile app analytics engine, the time people spend using mobile apps has doubled since this time last year. In June 2010, users spent 43 minutes a day interacting with mobile apps. By June 2011, this figure had rise to 81 minutes a day.

Meanwhile, there has been an increase in the amount of time spent browsing the web on mobile devices. At the start of 2011, users spent around 70 minutes a day browsing the mobile web; this now stands at around 74 minutes a day.

The news supports finding from other research reports published this year about the increased popularity of the mobile online world.

BIGresearch data this year showed that 81% of mobile internet users search for products and services via their devices, highlighting the importance of mobile SEO for brands aiming to reach customers in this way.

Meanwhile, a study from Oxford Economics and SAP found that many business owners view mobile technology and marketing as having a positive impact on business growth within the next five years.

The growth in popularity of geosocial networking sites such as Foursquare is thought to have contributed to the enhanced importance of mobile social networking sites for business.
