HTC announces new initiative to support developers

HTC has announced a new website designed to support mobile website developers.

HTCdev will bring together tools and resources designed to enable developers to build apps for HTC Sense smartphones. The phone manufacturer announced the initiative at the Upling developer conference in San Diego, USA, last week.
HTCdev has been designed to support and inspire developers across the industry, from those working alone to those working in major organisations. The resource centre is also designed for use by developers across the world.

A statement on the HTCdev website reads: “We know that, by supporting your ideas, the benefits customers get from our technology can increase exponentially. HTCdev is designed to give you the inspiration to explore the possibilities within the HTC platform, the support you need to develop your ideas, the platform you need to promote your applications and the forum to connect with other developers and with HTC.”

HTC also announced at the conference that it will be releasing the Open Sense SDK which brings together all of the necessary APIs, sample code and plug-ins for building apps for the HTC Sense smartphone collection.

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC said: “We believe in openness and the power of imagination to create that innovation and are excited that HTCdev will extend new tools to mobile developers, helping them create the next wave of mobile experiences.”
